Best & Worst Dressed: SAG Awards

MOST Beautiful Gown of the Night goes to Christina Applegate in Roberto Cavalli (who I normally don't like)! She's as beautiful outside as she is inside. I am happy to say she was, by far, the best dressed of the night! The gown is gorgeous, her hair is perfect, and the back detail is incredible!

BEST Redemption from Last Week Award goes to Tina Fey! Thank God she got it right this time, she looked fantastic in Ferragamo!

***Christina Hendricks came in a close second in her red Carolina Herrara***

WORST Designer Award goes to Alexander McQueen for the disaster that was Sandra Bullock and Anna Paquin! (That really pains me because he is one my absolute favorite designers!)

TOOL of the Night Award goes to Justin Timberlake for that stupid 70's wedding style blue ruffled shirt! (P.S. He also loses points for that beard and shaggy hair!)

BIGGEST Surprise of the Night Award goes to Patricia Arquette for not looking like a hippie hobo on the red carpet! (Not that I liked her dress, just that she didn't look like a hobo!)

CLOWN Award goes to Jeremy Irons for wearing a Ronald McDonald colored bow tie!

DUMB Actress Award goes to Sarah Hyland for not knowing who she was wearing! First rule of the red carpet is know who made the dress! ***Turns out, the dress is Alberto Makali***

LOVED IT:
Christina Applegate in Roberto Cavalli
Sherri Shepherd (not sure of designer)
Kyra Sedgwick in Vera Wang - this is white done right!
Tina Fey in Ferragamo

HATED IT:
Nicole Kidman
Anna Paquin
Sandra Bullock
Justin Timberlake

Two additional thoughts:

1. Adam Lambert looked awesome from afar, but up close...holy make-up Batman!!

2. Mariska Hargitay does red carpets very well! She looked fantastic!

See the post below for more details on more stars!

Make sure you tune in next week for a complete rundown of Grammy's fashion!

SAG Awards Red Carpet

Here's the Breakdown:

Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen - just because she was presenting Betty White with an award, didn't mean she needed to dress like she was Betty White's age! This is far too matronly for her!

Kate Hudson in Emilio Pucci - in general, I love this dress. I don't love that she is sporting white again! However, this one is so much better than that contraption from last week's Golden Globes. My main issue with this is the angle that was shown on TV while she was presenting...it was less than flattering and made it look like she had massive cellulite on her rear-end. We all know she is super skinny and fit, so it was clearly an issue with the dress, lighting, or camera angle...but, whatever the issue, it was a cringe-worthy moment (I kinda felt bad for her, because no woman, no matter how small wants that image on TV.)

Drew Barrymore in Monique Lhullier - I could have liked this without the strange looking apron thing at the waist. She also should have touched up her roots for the occasion!

Anna Pacquin in Alexander McQueen - looks like she's headed to the club. I'm a huge fan of Alexander McQueen, but this dress was totally inappropriate for an awards show - excluding the Teen Choice Awards or anything on MTV! The shoes are as bad as the ones she rocked last week, but at least last week's were harder to see because of dress length. Anna - stay away from the Forever 21 sale racks!

Carey Mulligan in Lanvin - this is the second week in a row that I have seen ill-fitting Lanvin gowns (last week on January Jones). She looks sloppy and the hem looks pinned up...it's a little weird.

Anna Kendrick in Alberta Ferretti - not a bad dress, but she looked terribly uncomfortable on the red carpet. I'm not sure if it was her nerves or the fit of the dress, but she kept covering her waistline in a protective way. She's still new, she'll get the hang of it after a while.

Lea Michele in Malandrino - looks so much better than last week! This look is sexy and sophisticated, unlike her high school character on Glee. She redeems herself from her ruffly Oscar de la Renta gown from the Golden Globes.

Marion Cotillard in Elie Saab - This dress is a mess! It gives me Bjork flashbacks!

Overall, the SAG red carpet was far better than the Golden Globes! The Grammy's next week should be really interesting. Stay tuned!

Youth in Revolt?

Although not a celebrity photo, I just couldn't let this one go! While out to eat yesterday, I saw this pre-teen girl wearing what can only be described as clown clothes! You don't get the whole look from this picture, but you get the idea. Is this really what the next generation thinks is cute? If so, I'm scared! (I have no doubt that this is exactly what people said about some of the stuff I wore at that age...Oh man, I think I've become "the old chick that doesn't get it"!)

The outfit consists of:
-Brown and multi-colored heart print hoodie
-Bright blue athletic shorts
-White and multi-colored polka-dot (different colors than the hoodie) lace trimmed cropped leggings
-Bright pink and white high-top sneakers
-Baby blue, light pink, and white graphic t-shirt underneath the hoodie

I want your feedback...what do you think of the mis-matched tween look?

New Poll

I have posted a new poll because there have been mixed reviews on Kate Hudson's white Marchesa gown from the Golden Globes. I want to know what you thought about it! Vote in the poll in the sidebar.
If this poll goes well, I will do it more often!

More on Golden Globes Fashion - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

GOOD - Penelope Cruz in Georgio Armani Prive– This tight black dress (unlike Mariah's - see below), looks fantastic, and it fits her perfectly! The textures that follow the length of the dress (top lace, bodice ribbon stripes, and hem tiered ruffles) make it just exciting enough, without overdoing it. She may be the only one that wore her hair down, but didn’t look like a drowned rat. She also gets respect for carrying her own umbrella because, as she said on E!, “I’m not P. Diddy, I can carry my own umbrella.” This is all pretty high praise coming from me, because I am usually not a fan of Penelope Cruz.

BAD - Anna Paquin in Stella McCartney – Boring! I have never seen True Blood and don’t care even a little bit about the recent vampire invasion. I am, however, so tired of blondes wearing gold gowns. It washes them out and it’s just not a fun look. This cut is too old for her, and is more suitable for a hot older woman like Helen Mirren. Oh, and the shoes are horrendously inappropriate for the occasion…they look like they are straight off the 50% off rack at Forever 21!

UGLY - Mariah Carey in Herve Leger by Max Azria– Did exactly what you would expect her to do; too tight black dress with WAY too much cleavage! She’s nothing if not predictable! You can take a girl out of the tacky (star her in a hit movie), but you can’t take the tacky out of the girl (she’ll always be the Glitter girl to us)!

GREAT - Heather Graham – Looks fantastic in that dress! But the real reason I love this is because I LOVE the slicked back ponytail. Very smart, especially in the pouring rain!

WRONG - Kate Hudson – Complete disaster from the stupid grin on her face to the ridiculously ugly mess of a Marchesa gown to the stripper platform shoes. We all know Kate Hudson is flat-chested…why she is trying to trick everyone into thinking she has boobs by stuffing her dress is beyond me!?!? There is absolutely nothing right about this look. It actually looks like something her mom would have worn at the end of The First Wives Club!

STRANGE - Tina Fey – Ok, so I know she’s a funny lady, but do the jokes have to continue on the red carpet? This looks like a disassembled tweed suit that was reassembled into an 60’s like prom dress. This is just bad in every way.

OLD - Lea Michele in Oscar De La Renta – I feel like this girl is just as geeky as the character she plays on Glee. She, for some reason felt the need to go WAY over the top for her first nomination. That’s fine, but this dress drowns her and is all wrong for somebody her age. She needed something much more fun.

FRUMPY - January Jones in Lanvin – She is way too gorgeous to be this wrong! The dress is ill-fitting and frumpy, the headband is too close to her face (should have been further back in her hair), and the red lips are a little pageant-like. I hate to say this, especially since I LOVE Mad Men, but this look is terrible! The weird clown neck decoration is just the cherry on the sundae!

PEACHY - Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano – She’s too washed out with a gown that is almost as pale as she is. She should stick to jewel tones that extenuate her porcelain complexion. This would have worked really well on her sexy figure, if it were a darker shade. However, if she really wants to attempt a skin matching dress again, she should see Nicole Kidman or Drew Barrymore for advice on how to do it right.

INAPPROPRIATE - Julia Roberts in Yves Saint Laurent – This is far too casual. She is normally the epitome of red carpet class, but really dropped the ball this year. She looks more like she’s headed to the mall on her lunch break! The rain did not do her hair any favors either!

TRAGIC - Anna Kendrick in Marchesa – I kind of feel bad for this tragic newbie! This dress overwhelms her and is way too matronly for this young, adorable, perky girl.

WHAT? - Tea Leoni – Just because Sharon Stone made a Gap shirt work on the red carpet once, doesn’t mean it should be done again! This look consists of several offenses; the shirt looks like she grabbed it out of hubby’s side of the closet by mistake (which would explain the rolled up sleeves), the skirt is frumpy and should only be worn to a funeral (if then), the belt is a strange addition that looks as if it came attached to a pair of trousers she got at 75% off at Marshall’s, and last but certainly not least, the necklace is right out of a child’s dress-up set!
