SAG Awards 2011

The SAG Awards aren't a favorite of most. I happen to rather like the SAGs because the actors seem more relaxed and real when in the company of their peers. I thought it was, overall, a pretty good show. The fashions were, overall, pretty good too.

I saw three big trends on the SAG red carpet. Many of them overlapping. There were a lot of shades of red, orange and pink. Lots of belted gowns. And a bunch of strapless dresses with sweetheart necklines.

*Don't forget, click on the pictures to enlarge.

Belted beauties:

From left to right: Claire Danes in Louis Vuitton, January Jones in Carolina Herrera, Jennifer Lawrence in Oscar de la Renta, and Lea Michelle, way overdoing the sexy look, also in Oscar de la Renta.

 Sizzling sweetheart necklines:

From left to right: Dianna Agron in Chanel Haute Couture (love the dress, hate the hair - it's just too short for a ponytail), Guilianna Rancic in Ema Savahl, Heather Morris in Ramona Keveza, and Jenna Ushkowitz in Badgley Mischka.

On fire:

From left to right: Julianna Margulies in Yves Saint Laurent, Jayma Mays in Jenny Packman, Tina Fey in Oscar de la Renta, Sarah Hyland in Max Mara, and Edie Falco in Carolina Herrera.

And the award for trend setter of the year goes to:

Mila Kunis for hitting all three trends at the SAGs in this Alexander McQueen and being a showstopper with the green Vera Wang at the Globes!

Not everything is sunshine and roses:

From left to right: Amy Adams in an ill-fitting Herve L. Leroux, Angie Harmon in a Monique Lhuillier gown that caused the untimely death of dozens of flamingos, Christina Hendrix in a L'Wren Scott knock off of Hugh Hefner's smoking jacket, Jane Lynch in an Ali Rahimi regect from a 1996 Ms. Teen USA Pageant, and Melissa Leo in a Randi Rahm space suit.

Baby Bumps:

Jane Krakowski in Badgley Mischka and Natalie Portman in Azzaro. Jane looks great in this one sleeve, cocktail length sparkler. The nude heels make the outfit (and are a huge trend on the streets this season). Natalie Portman on the other hand, looks like she bedazzled her bed sheet and wrapped it around her. Her hair was stiff and her dress did not hang properly through the hips. Her stylists need to get it together before the Oscars. Maternity can and should be lovely on the red carpet, as seen on Jane Krakowski. Natalie just needs a little help.

The rest of the good:

From left to right: Annette Bening looking statuesque in Tony Ward Couture, Hailee Steinfeld in an age appropriate and bright Prada, Julie Bowen in a just-feminine-enough Maladrino pantsuit, and Winona Ryder in Alberta Ferretti.

From the "What Were They Thinking Collection?":

Eva Longoria in a half-finished Georges Hobieka, Nicole Kidman in a not-so-great Nina Ricci with a completely unnecessary necklace that looks ridiculous on this high neck gown, and Sofia Vergara in Roberto Cavalli from what must be his line for Forever 21.

Why do I have to keep up with the damn Kardashians all the freakin' time?

How does making a sex tape with Brandy's little brother and whoring out your whole family on realty TV earn an invite to the SAG Awards? Is that all it takes to become a member of the Screen Actors Guild? Ugh, anyway, she looks a mess in this Marchesa gown and helmet hair. So over this chick!

Last, but not least - Best dressed Male:

Justin Timberlake finally got a hair cut and stopped wearing the ruffled 70's tux! He looked fantastic! I really liked the subtle stripes on his tie. Happy 30th Birthday Justin!!!

That wraps it up for the SAGs. Who were your favorites? Least favorites?
