Golden Globes 2014

Did you watch? If not - no worries - I've got you covered, at least on what people wore!
The 2014 Golden Globes were a pleasant surprise. I was truly impressed with how great everyone looked. Even my worst dressed list doesn't come close to being as bad as most award shows. People are finally listening to their stylists (or at least looking in a mirror before leaving the house)!

Best of the Best

Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein is to die for! That turquiose, perfectly fitted, simple only the way Calvin Klein can, mermaid hem gown is perfection!

As much as I can't stand the actress, the dress is lovely. Kristin Chenoweth looks wonderful in this royal blue long sleeve gown by Aiisha Ramadan.

Only one with the height and figure of Cate Blanchett could properly pull of the black lace Armani number.

Then we come to Jenna Dewan. Not only is she married to Channing Tatum, but she just had a baby!! This Roberto Cavalli black and white gown with the print only accentuating her hourglass figure is a big win!

My number two spot goes to Sofia Vergara and Zac Posen for this beauty (but really, would anything actually look bad on her?)! Also love the turquoise jewelry.

And here is the absolute best of the night - and honestly, I'd never even heard of Margot Robbie before this event. I haven't seen Wolf of Wallstreet yet, but on a side note: I'm unimpressed by the apparent number of f-bombs in the movie, I can most certainly drop more on any given day in DMV traffic (that's DC, Maryland, Virginia not Department of Motor Vehicles for those non-locals).
I actually thought it was Jaime Pressly as she walked the carpet, and realized I was wrong when they interviewed her on NBC later in the broadcast. But the cut, the fit, and the detailed embellishment of this Gucci gown is not only my favorite of the Golden Globes, it's my favorite in many years of award shows. This dress will not soon be forgotten and although not seen in this photo, neither will the emerald green heels she was wearing!

Let the Girls be Girls
The cast of Girls showed up and really stayed true to their personalities. I may not love all the gowns, but I love that they are all true to who they are! Side note: if you are not watching this show, you totally should be! Great, if not completely weird cast of characters!

Baby Bumping
This group brought their plus-one as a carry-on!

Kerry Washington in Balenciaga. Olivia Wilde in Gucci (loving all of their green this season, even though it was last year's color). Drew Barrymore in Jenny Packham - although not my favorite, it totally suits her style, so I can't hate!

Looking Lovely

In no particular order, here are a few ladies who lit up the red carpet.
Amy Adams, channeling her American Hustle character, in double red Marchesa. Amy Poehler in sleek Stella McCartney. Taylor Swift in red and black Carolina Herrera. Mila Kunis in sparkling silver Gucci Premier. Rashida Jones in Fausto Puglisi - not sure about the gold palm trees, but she's quirky, so it sorta works. To wrap up, we have Sarah Hyland in my 7 year old's favorite of the night, the totally age appropriate in color and cut, Georges Hobieka.

It's a Barbie World
I'm not sure if this a trend we can look forward to hating, or just a strange fluke, but these Barbie knock-off gowns are a little scary. I just don't get the total overload of bubblegum colored satin. Designers unknown...and should probably stay that way!

What were they thinking?
The ones that left you saying "hmmmmmmm"!

I won't call out the designers here, but I will ask the question that we'll never get the answers to - what were they thinking? Kaley Cuoco is washed out by this printed gown. Emma Watson is just plain confusing in her pants/dress thing. Hayden Panettiere is just too short and cut off  in the middle by this assymetrical black and white number - us short folk can't do anything to appear shorter! Heidi Klum always pushes the limits, but this time, it seems she forgot to get ready - the 1998 choker was an interesting choice, as was the decision to wear shiny makeup and no lipstick. Jennifer Lawrence is usually adorable on red carpets, but this one is just ugly (there was even a meme created that pretty well sums it up - see below). Julia Roberts looked like she tried to make her strapless gown more conservative by throwing a Gap button down shirt underneath - what is going on there? And Paula Patton could have done without the extra ton of cotton balls it looks like she brought with her. That white poofy mess is just not good!

Eye Candy
For no other reason than to end with something pretty...here's Shannon and Jared Leto. You're welcome!

Until next time, my friends. Please stay tuned throughout the entire award season and 'like' us on Facebook!

Hugs and air kisses!
