And the award goes to.... (Grammy Award Edition)

The eclectic mix of people on the red carpet of the Grammy Awards is similar to what you would expect to see if you were cruising down Fifth Avenue in NYC and then accidentally end up on 54th Street with the bums ravaging the garbage cans. The class acts were certainly there, but the garbage was also out in full force!

Let's get down to business...

BEST DRESSED FEMALE:

Pink in a gorgeous Tony Ward scalloped mermaid gown in multiple shades of grey, takes the best dressed award hands down. Jay Manuel should take note: this is how you pull off platinum hair! Pink classed it up on the red carpet and had, in my honest opinion, the best performance of the night! Her acrobatics in mid air in a body hugging sheer suit, all the while singing is incredibly impressive and extremely brave! (And she has a hot husband...that little bitch has it all!)

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Nicole Kidman in Prada

Mary J. Blige in Gucci

Jennifer Nettles in Victoria Beckham

Lea Michele in Ramona Keveza

BEST DRESSED MALE:

Usher wins it in this stone colored Emporio Armani suit with white piping and black contrasting buttons. This is a surprising pick for me because I generally hate mismatched prints and patterns, but for some reason I absolutely LOVE this! The black and white checked shirt with the coordinating black and white polka-dot tie and pocket square create a perfect juxtaposition! Apparently losing all that dead weight this past year has been very good for Usher...for those not following along, I'm talking about that mess of a wife he was toting around! His album may have tanked, but at least he hasn't lost his sense of style!

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Ne-Yo - I don't care what Joan Rivers says, I like the white tie and shoes, and I don't think he looks like a pimp.

Jason Mraz - Recycled polyester suit with a tie made from old cassettes? Yup, what else would expect from Jason Mraz?

Common - He's as stylish as he is talented!

WORST DRESSED FEMALE (tie):

Britney Spears in Dolce & Gabbana & Ciara in Givenchy tied in this category because they are guilty of the same crime! The sheer mesh dress over a leotard is only acceptable for...NOTHING! There is no reason to ever wear this! This was supposed to be Britney's big Grammy comeback - but if this is the best she can come up with, she might want to wait another eight years before showing her face on the Grammy red carpet again! As for Ciara - I never know what she's thinking, so this doesn't really shock me!

WORST DRESSED MALE:

Akon looks like he walked out of the local Hot Topic and right onto the red carpet. The leather pants were bad enough on their own, but shamelessly plugging that he "discovered" Lady Gaga by wearing her on his tee shirt is just weird!

BEST DRESSED DUO OR GROUP:

Green Day have been around many, many years and screwed up on a many a red carpet - but not this time! They look coordinated and handsome without making a contrived statement of being overly matchy.

WORST DRESSED DUO OR GROUP:

MGMT tries too hard! I have no words to describe this disaster!

GRAMMY ARREST LOG:

OFFENSE: Flashing too much side boob!
OFFENDER: Katy Perry in Zac Posen
***As a side note - she seems genuinely happy with that lunatic Russell Brand!***

OFFENSE: Use of a deadly weapon on red carpet
OFFENDER: Lady Gaga in Armani Prive
***I have no idea what the significance of that stupid spike star is!?!? Does this get-up represent the solar system somehow, and her hair is the sun?***

OFFENSE: Being an overly obnoxious teenager!
OFFENDER: Justin Bieber & Miley Cyrus
***These two tools take undeserved arrogance to a whole new level - their 15 minutes must end SOON***

OFFENSE: Using Big Bird's stylist!
OFFENDER: Rhianna in this feathery Elie Saab frock
***I know I'll catch some flack for this, but she not only sucks as a performer (I can say that - I've seen her live), but she has never gotten it right on the red carpet!***

OFFENSE: Public display of sluttiness!
OFFENDER: Ke$ha is a complete disrespect to the entire music industry!
***Seriously, this girl really needs to be locked away so she can stop spreading the disease she calls music!***

A few extra notes:

I actually liked Fergie's dress again (Emilio Pucci)- still hate her music and watching her perform, but at least her red carpet presentations are getting better!

Travis Barker would otherwise be considered WAY under-dressed, but it's Travis Barker and I love him, so I don't care (besides, I like the use of old school Thrasher on the red carpet)! I also love that he coordinated outfits with his son, Landon!

Who was your favorite?
